Our StartMAES: Latinos in Science and Engineering was founded in Los Angeles in 1974 by professional engineers looking to increase the representation of Latinx in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They created opportunities and fostered recognition through professional, technical, and outreach activities. |
Our Chapter in UCIThe MAES chapter at UC Irvine was assembled by the Latinx engineers and scientists in order to create a sense of community, or “familia”, on campus. The sense of a “familia” is one of the things that truly separate MAES from other academic clubs. MAES members are not just club members, they are our brothers and sisters within our institution. MAES is the home away from that offers networking opportunities, student-alumni relations, academic mentoring, and social events. |
